Lavender Hydrosol
Created naturally from a steam distillation process of Abbott Hollow grown lavender blossoms in their most fragrant budding flower phase. We harvest the herbs in the morning and immediately begin the distillation process (a 2-3 hour process) This hydrosol smells and “feels” heavenly, filled with the vibration of lavandula’s true essence! The lavender distillate has similar properties to an essential oil, but is less concentrated and thus ready to use in its hydrosol phase. Add to foods and beverages, to your creams as the water portion or use directly as a facial toner, aura or room spray.

(a hydrosol enhanced with flower essences) Our pure lavender hydrosol combined with a proprietary blend of flower essences, is a spray formulated to soothe unreachable places within. The flower essences in this blend are specifically chosen to support the release of fears, especially for dogs. It is nice for humans too.
To use: Spray in a room or space, on a pillow or directly onto your aura, face and body. Can be used as a “smokeless smudge”.

There is a depth of spiritual and physical sustenance offered from the trees, the many wild creatures and the elemental beings such as boulder, running water, blowing wind and the plants of these lands. We are blessed & privileged to live upon and among these great beings. We are honored to respect and care for the beings living here, to care for Mother Earth and receive her gift of connecting with ourselves and our ancestors and the historical ancestors of these lands.
These 5 acres have many ecosystems with a boggy, marshy, wet area and nearby swamp to the south, a hemlock – beech – oak woodlands ridge to the west leading to a deep hollow in the north which gives rise to a ridge named Abbott Hill. From there the rich soils supporting sweet birch, ash and pine flow to the east. American hops hornbeam, witch hazel, maple and dogwood live amongst us.
We effort to conserve the many plant and tree species here by terracing with fallen branches and trees. We effort to provide safe grounds for our many visitors of turtles, red efts, wild turkey, fox, bear, barred owls and red shouldered hawks. We witness the power of these creatures, the winds and water as we honor this rugged environment.
Abbott Hollow Sanctuary is for educating, stewarding and partnering with the earth! We work to regenerate and revitalize the landscape, while we protect it and grow habitat for wildlife.

Evolving Together
Process
We grow seedlings from seeds we previously collected, often from plants grown on Abbott Hollow grounds, but also from other places, such as the gardens of friends and relatives. This practice feeds our connections to our ancestors and friends and I feel the light of their spirits in our new plant friends. We have an outdoor “nursery” where new plants are tended as they gain strength. Once we are confident in their ability to thrive these rugged highlands, we bring them to the broader gardens to brave the wilder lands.
Walking the grounds and gardens each day, we perceive changes from the day before and sometimes from earlier that same day! We might see a footprint, or hoof print, a swelling bud, an opening flower or new shoots from seeds rising above the soil. These observations guide our actions and priorities for the day, week and sometimes seasons ahead.
We are so grateful for the privilege and honor of living here and supporting these grounds.
We harvest only plants that are abundant in quantity and plentifully healthy. They may be dried and made into teas or infused oils, or they may be used fresh and made into hydrosols, tinctures, elixirs, or beverages. We dry bundles of lavender and mugwort and braid sweet grass. We strive to celebrate the plants and feature them in our products and classes.
My journey:
I began making these products because of my sensitive skin and because I wanted to limit the exposure of myself and family to unnecessary chemicals and toxic additives.
I want to feed my skin, inside and out, with nourishment, with food, with love and with care.
Humans and plants have evolved together over the entire time of human existence. I believe they are a key to our true contentment.
I hope to foster connection and appreciation between humans and the natural world, for the good of all. I hope to bring the blessing of their physical and spiritual sustenance & nourishment to all whom I meet in this blessed work.
We would like to acknowledge that this land, which we have vowed to tend and be in relationship with, is located in the unceded ancestral homelands of the Pocumtuc Nation. We offer our gratitude to the Indigenous peoples who have lived here and continue to live in this region. We wish to recognize the ongoing responsibility and relationship we have to the land, its Native and Indigenous stewards and all guests that gather here.
